Tips on how to make feeding time fun

MANILA, Philippines - In the eyes of a toddler, the world is a fun and exciting place that needs to be explored. There are just so many things to do; he doesn’t know where to start. Because of this, eating becomes a struggle for the young adventurer who would rather romp about than sit down for a meal.

Philips Avent brand manager Eryl Valeroso explains that there are so many distractions for a toddler that feeding time becomes a battleground for both parent and child.

But how can parents (or caregivers) successfully tempt a fussy eater with a teeny-weeny appetite without a shouting match? Here are some tips:

• Sit down with your toddler. Children learn through imitating the behavior and actions of parents, including eating healthy, nutritious foods.

• Know when your child is hungry. You cannot force a child who is tired and not hungry to eat. Study your toddler’s hunger cues.

• Since this is the phase when they will assert their independence at all costs, give your toddler the freedom of choice. But give him an option between two healthy choices (like peas or carrots?).

With the help of child experts, Philips Avent came up with a whole range of feeding set especially designed to make meal time a magical learning experience for toddlers.

The Philips Avent toddler feeding range includes bowls, divider plates, cutlery, and sippy cups. It can be purchased individually or as a set. Also available is the Philips Avent combined steamer and blender to help moms and caregivers prepare a wide array of delicious and healthy foods that kids will love.
