MANILA, Philippines — A 13-year-old is said to have finally "beaten" Tetris after more than three decades.
Tech news sites and blogs reported that Willis "Blue Scuti" Gibson has managed to crash Tetris by triggering a "killscreen" at Level 157.
Reports said that the 13-year-old managed what many gamers had been dying to achieve in the past three decades since it was created by Soviet software engineer Alexey Pajitnov in 1985.
According to an article on ABC News, a "killscreen" is a point where the game's code glitches, leading it to crash.
It cited how many gamers considered Tetris an unbeatable game because unlike other games, it does not have a scripted ending.
The Oklahoma teenager was able to achieve this last December 21, 2023.
According to a report on Good Morning America, Willis broke three records, namely, Total Score, Level Achieved, and Total Number of Lines.
