MANILA, Philippines — James Marsden, who rose to stardom by playing Scott Summers or Cyclops in the “X-Men” films, visited Manila on February 6 to mark International Scotch Day on February 8.

During the event, Marsden has been proclaimed as #LoveScotch’s international celebrity ambassador.

“Scotch has always been one of my favorite drinks and I’m excited to be in the Philippines to usher in International Scotch Day celebrations with my fellow Scotch enthusiasts,” Marsden said.

According to Marsden, he loves Scotch because of its refined taste.

“I drank it my whole life. I started to pay attention more on quality than quantity,” said the star of hit Hollywood flicks “Enchanted,” “27 Dresses,” “The Notebook,” and “Superman Returns,” among others.

He said that he began drinking Scotch as soon as he became legally eligible to drink it. He likes to put his Scotch in a glass and add a little water into it. Sometimes, he enjoys it in room temperature, but sometimes, he likes it on the rocks and with a hint of mint leaves.

“If you do not know what to drink tonight, you can never go wrong with a Scotch,” enthused the star of hit HBO series “Westworld.”

Scotch, said Global Scotch Whisky Ambassador Ervin Trykowski, is Scotland’s “national treasure.”

International Scotch Day is held during the birthday week of one of the world’s most influential master blenders, Alexander Walker, son of John “Johnnie” Walker, who claims to have introduced Scotch to the world.
