MANILA, Philippines - People travel for different reasons. Some go on a trip for pleasure, while others do it for work. Whatever the reason is, one thing’s for sure: If given an opportunity to do so, we will definitely take this once-in-a-lifetime chance at the drop of a hat.
So where do you want to go? In a survey of 300 young people, aged 17 to 24, the top three dream destinations are: the water world of Venice in Italy, the picturesque cliffs of Santorini in Greece, and the glitter and glamour of romantic Paris. The good news is, KFC, the home of the finger-lickin’ good fried chicken, gives you a chance to go anywhere in the world through the Sweet Escape photo contest.
All you need is a cup of KFC Krushers and a good eye to feed your wanderlust.
Picture-Pretty Dream Destinations
“The mechanics are actually very simple. You can have your photo taken with your family or friends drinking Krushers anywhere in the Philippines. Just be sure to make it look like you’re actually at your dream destination,” explains Cha-cha Calma-Juinio, general manager of KFC Philippines.
Say the whole barkada wants to explore the African Safari. You need not go far. Just visit the Manila Zoo, have your group photo taken with a giraffe — garbed in your Indiana Jones outfit with your favorite cup of KFC Krushers in hand — and you’re good to go.
If the Parthenon in Greece is on your must-see places before you die, then scour the Philippines for stately columns. I think the Manila Post Office could pass for that. Frame your barkada against the shot, hold on to your Krushers cup, and press the button.
You can also pose in front of the globe at SM Mall of Asia to get the word out that you’re in Universal Studios Orlando; at the EDSA Shrine as if you’re at the foot of Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and Little Tokyo in Makati, which has shades of the colorful Harajuku District of Japan.
Send as many entries as you like to www.krusherszone.com, where all the Sweet Escape snapshots will be judged based on votes and creativity.
“The KFC Sweet Escape photo contest is different from other promos because we are actually giving our customers the liberty to choose the destination where they want to go for as long as it’s accessible via commercial travel,” enthuses Cha-cha.
The entry which garners the most online votes will receive P400,000 in cash.
“We can help them with their visa applications, book their flights and accommodations. It’s all up to them where they would want to go. If, for example, the entire package costs P200,000, we will give them the remaining P200,000 prize as pocket money. So it’s very flexible,” adds Lee Perez, marketing director of KFC Philippines.
The launch of the Sweet Escape photo contest was held at the Paparazzi restaurant, Edsa Shangri-La Hotel where we savored sumptuous Italian fare complemented by cups of KFC Krushers. Jack Salud whisked us off to Italy with his superb rendition of Moon River and O Sole Mio.
Krush It
KFC Krushers is KFC’s premium line of beverages. It’s a semi-frozen drink with exciting and indulgent flavors. What makes it different is that it actually has real fruits and chocolate bits in every cup.
“Krushers is not a smoothie. It’s not a sorbet. It’s not a shake, and it’s definitely not a float. It’s simply Krushers,” explains Lee Perez, marketing director of KFC Philippines.
According to Perez, it took them such a long time to finally come up with a distinct beverage to launch on the market.
“KFC is so famous for its finger-lickin’ good chicken. But this time, we want to promote a line of beverage that’s different from what the other brands offer. And fortunately, we found Krushers,” she enthuses.
Krushers is a global product and Perez is proud to announce that the Philippines is the first country in Asia to pilot the product.
“Krushers was launched in July of last year. KFC Philippines is actually the first to launch this systemwide along all the markets in the world. So we are a pioneer for KFC Krushers,” Perez adds.
To give KFC Krushers its own identity, KFC has created a store within a store to sell the product.
“It’s like a kiosk inside a KFC store, or it can be a freestanding stall in malls, schools or food courts. People will surely take notice because the design is hip and cool, just like KFC Krushers. For this product, we actually want to tap the young market,” Perez explains.
The refreshing KFC Krushers comes in two variants: the classic line and yogurt line. The classic line has three flavors: Rocky Road, Cookies ‘n’ Cream, and Mocha Krunch. Those who want a guilt-free treat can opt for the yogurt line: Mango Mania, Berry Banana, and Strawberry Slush.
“In each cup, we only use the freshest and finest ingredients. Each cup is made to order so you’ll get a fresh Krusher any time you want,” notes Perez.
KFC Krushers not only cools you down. Who knows? It can also be your passport to your dream destination. Send your entries to www.krusherszone.com and you’re just a dream away from a grand vacation with your family or barkada.
