WATCH: Michael Cinco presents collection at world’s first Metaverse Fashion Gala

MANILA, Philippines — Filipino celebrity designer Michael Cinco presented a new collection at what was touted as the world’s first-ever Metaverse Fashion Gala last Monday in Marriott Grand Ballroom, Pasay City.

As an important market for blockchain or cryptocurrency technology, the country is currently staging its Blockchain Week, which was opened by Cinco’s futuristic and jam-packed fashion show attended by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.

Ballet Philippines dancers, Cinco's muses since the designer designed a ballet collection in 2019, opened the show, where Cinco's handmade opuses were juxtaposed against very modern laser light and three-dimensional projections, making the show a seamless marriage between tradition and technology.

“I’m so happy and so excited to do something in the Philippines, because the Philippines is one of the best countries for us because our business partner is Filipino and we plan to expand in the Philippines,” Egyptian businessman Dr. Sayed Ali, co-founder and business partner of Michael Cinco brand, told Philstar.com and The Daily Tribune in an exclusive interview.

“We have a lot of clients from Philippines. For me, from a Philippines block chain company to do a fashion show, I’m excited and we do our best.”

Ali shared his happiness as the Dubai-based designer’s 60-piece collection that took three to four months to finish was well-received by the crowd.

“Thanks God, with all the people that I’ve seen, they’re all happy and they like it… So I’d say, thank God first and I thank you and all our friends and family supporting us.” — Video by Philstar.com/Deni Rose M. Afinidad-Bernardo
