MANILA, Philippines — Cebuano fashion designer Hanz Coquilla is set to represent the Philippines in the upcoming World Fashion Week 2019 on October 24.

Hanz will showcase his works in the prestigious fashion event to be held at the iconic Palais Brongniart, where international brands like Fendi and Chanel also stage their fashion shows.

“To be nominated by the organizers to represent the country is big enough, and it's something to be thankful for since not everyone is given the same chance,” Hanz told SunStar Lifestyle.

“As an artist, I've always wanted to showcase my works abroad. And every time I finish a show, I tend to crave for an even bigger audience and platform. There's that sense of fulfillment hearing the applause of people and seeing them embrace you and your artwork,” he added.

Hanz will showcase an exclusive 10-piece collection in the event. He added that “doing the 10-piece would be feasible because we are also doing the Macao Fashion Festival a week before going to Paris.”

Apart from World Fashion Week, Hanz was also reportedly the first and only Filipino to be part of Macao Fashion Festival.

World Fashion Week is an internationally acclaimed event and network for trade and fashion professionals. According to its website, the annual event provides a forum for worldwide exposure and recognition, where leading and emerging fashion designers from around the world participate in an elaborate showcase of world fashion and trade, celebrating cultural diversity, while promoting world tourism and lifestyle destinations.
