Champagne at Tiffany's

Tiffany is America’s premier jeweller with a presence in every major city worldwide, including our very own Rustan’s.

Starting in 1837 as a variety store in lower New York, the prestigious company made a splash when they opened their iconic flagship store on 5th Avenue in 1940 and has been a must stop for everyone since then.

Easily recognized as one of the top name brands that is synonymous with refined luxury and class, it is always a joy to view beautiful pieces that include my favorite outstanding designers such as Elsa Peretti, Paloma Picasso, Jean Schlumberger and Frank Gehry.

Vivacious Tessa Valdes hosted the fun cocktails at Rustan’s Makati to launch the new Tiffany collection that features vintage-inspired items with a contemporary look that certainly complements any jewelry collection. The fun champagne reception gave every guest a chance to win a beautiful sterling silver piece with five winners claiming the top prizes.

The 3rd Philippine International Art Fair at the NBC Tent in Taguig City brought the biggest gathering of art galleries under one roof.

It was a chance for international collectors, art lovers, students and the curious public to view a treasure trove of artistic designs.

I enjoyed this event as all genres were present — from a pair of 1947 Fernando Amorsolo portraits to Ramon Orlina’s glass sculptures to avant-garde pieces that either drew amusement, shock value or interested buyers.  Deciding on which gallery to visit became a challenge as there was so much being offered.

Many artworks were sold on opening night.  A number of my friends who delayed buying — as they wanted to scout the area for an hour or two — found out that the choice pieces had already been sold in a short span of time. Unlucky for them but lucky for the artists. I will definitely be there early next year to be able to get first dibs on pieces that will catch my eye.
