MANILA, Philippines - St. Benedict Church, Ayala Westgrove Heights presents sculptures and paintings of Paete artists in “Grace & Gratitude,†which opens on Nov. 30 at the foyer of St. Benedict Church. The show runs until Dec. 8.
Featured artists are Luis Ac-ac, Phearn Afurong, Lell Baldemor, Luis Baldemor, Otep Banez, Nestor Cagayat, Glenn Cagandahan, Tinn Cagandahan, Nemy Cadawas, and Odette Monfero.
Paete, which derives its name from paet or chisel, is recognized as the carving capital of the Philippines. Paete prides itself for having its work exported in various churches in the world including St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome and its furniture to palaces as early as the 17th century.
Proceeds of the show will fund the various projects of the church.
