Alliance Française launches the 4th edition of AFM-PARP

MANILA, Philippines - Alliance Française de Manille announces the launch of its fourth artist residency grants program (AFM-PARP). The AFM-PARP offers Filipino artists the possibility of a structured visit to France for a period of two to three months to be hosted by a French non-profit cultural organization, an artist residence, or an artist-run initiative. More of a professional opportunity rather than a project-based grant, it aims to enrich the experience of Filipino artists by providing them with the opportunity to initiate contact with the contemporary art scene in France.

Sculptor Ronald Jaramillo Hilario was the recipient of the second AFM-PARP grant in 2012 and the third recipient, glass sculptor Christina Osorio “Goldie” Poblador, has just returned from a three-month residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.

The AFM-PARP is open to all Filipino visual artists: painters, sculptors, multi-media artists, and photographers. One residency is offered annually during the spring or autumn months. The AFM-PARP provides a financial grant to cover the costs of travel and living expenses. The grantee may also avail of one session of free French language classes at the AFM.

The deadline for submission of AFM-PARP applications is on Nov. 15.

The AFM-PARP application form and brochure are available at the Alliance Française de Manille, 209 Nicanor Garcia St., Bel-Air II, Makati City and at major cultural institutions, museums, and art galleries. Forms may also be downloaded at www.alliance.ph.
