MANILA, Philippines - The Center For Pop Music Philippines (CPMP) — where internationally-successful Filipino artists such as Charice Pempengco , Dessa, Josephine “Banig” Roberto, as well as Ima Castro, Carla Guevarra, Ma-an Dionisio, and Joanne Ampil who all portrayed Kim in Miss Saigon attended — is the Philippines’ first and largest training school for voice and stage performance.
The students are trained with a stage with spotlights, a professional sound system, a microphone, an audience of six other students, and a vocal coach at CPMP. They are taught by way of simulating a real live show atmosphere.
The training school was founded by the late Butch Albarracin, known as the Father of Pop Singing, an Agora Awardee and a Top 10 Outstanding Entrepreneur. He envisioned a school that could help performers overcome shyness and stage fright, while developing their pop singing voice and stage performance. He designed the first pop singing curriculum specializing in Voice and Stage Performance. The school has grown to more than 20 branches and extension classes all over the country.
