A very elegant al fresco dinner was tendered for Carole Young, president of the London-based International Inner Wheel, the friendship and service organization of the ladies of the Rotary. It was held at the posh Greenhills residence of Nonie Basilio, a past president of the Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines (IWCPI). Young was the keynote speaker at the IWCPI National Conference held at the Manila Hotel.
Young was truly impressed with the sumptuous spread, folk dances, group singing at her party and the colorful Filipiniana attire of her host. The guest of honor thanked Nonie for the hospitality and goodwill the host had accorded to her since her arrival.
Well done, Nonie!
A night of music and art
With the advocacy of annually bringing classical music to all parts of the country, renowned pianists Dr. Ingrid Santamaria and Prof. Reynaldo Reyes presented a piano concert at the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Museum. The said concert was done in cooperation with Minerva Tanseco, former president of the Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP) and the Inner Wheel Club of Manila (IWCM). It was the 22nd season of the pianists’ “romantic piano journey†that featured full length concertos of Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff.
Besides being serenaded with classical piano music, guests from Manila’s elite circle were treated as well to a captivating display of Fernando Amorsolo’s paintings and murals displayed at the GSIS Museum.
Bravo to Minerva, Ingrid and Reynaldo for staging a meaningful and classy event!
The tireless Alice Briones was the star of the show as her most cherished friends honored her with a birthday luncheon at the luxurious Fairmont Hotel in Makati City. Chitchats about their holiday break filled the air as the group indulged in a five-star meal.
