The return of the Valii girls

Thanks to renowned and trusted jeweler Anita Chan, Valii Girls are back in vogue, but with a time-ly twist! And of course, the emphasis is on time-ly, as Valii refers to the spanking new collection of watches that Anita developed with an Italian watchmaker. Blending Anita’s jewelry background with the functionality and design aesthetic that Italian watch-making has been known for has resulted in a rare and exquisite line of watches that should appeal to most discriminating collectors.

For this joint venture, Anita basically played with material, adding a new dimension to the look and design the watches would carry. Whether it’s your chronograph for men or the various lines of ladies’ fashion watches, the prevailing themes of the line expound on quality of material and maintaining a strong modern, contemporary look that manages to still retain classic sensibilities. Leather, mineral glass, Mother of Pearl, Swarovski crystals — it’s a feast to the eyes noting how Anita has employed the variety of material to enhance the faces, straps and other parts of the watches. Some watches even allow one to change straps according to one’s mood, and I especially liked how one model would employ Rose Gold but offset this with a sleek Black rubberized strap; a prime example of how Old would blend with New, and come up trumps.

At the launch held at Anita’s shop at the Power Plant Rockwell, guests were visibly dazzled not only by the timepieces, but also by the realization that this line of watches had been very reasonably priced, given the quality of the material employed. Manolo and Maritess Lopez, Ching Cruz, Stephanie Zubiri, Pinky Tobiano, Randy Ortiz, Princess Violago, Vince and Patricia Hizon — they were just some of the “converted” Valii girls and their men. All united in wishing Anita the very best in her new venture, and knowing that as always, one can be assured of certain things and qualities when it’s found in Anita’s shop. A perfect holiday gift!
