MANILA, Philippines — An “extreme caution” heat index is expected across the country on Sunday, April 19, and Monday, April 20, the state weather bureau PAGASA said.

In its April 18 heat index bulletin, PAGASA said most areas in the Philippines may experience temperatures ranging from 33°Celsius to 41°C on Sunday and Monday.

For Sunday’s forecast, the areas with the highest expected temperatures are Sangley Point in Cavite City, Zamboanga City in Zamboanga del Sur, and Cotabato City in Maguindanao, each with a heat index of 41°C.

Although almost all areas are under “extreme caution” on Monday, Sangley Point in Cavite may fall under the “danger” classification, with a heat index of 42°C.

Meanwhile, the lowest temperature is expected at Benguet Radar in Tuba, Benguet, at 19°C on Sunday and 20°C on Monday.

Metro Manila, as measured at the PAGASA Science Garden in Quezon City and NAIA in Pasay City, will also be under the “extreme caution” classification.

The PAGASA Science Garden is expected to record a heat index of 37°C on Sunday and 38°C on Monday, while NAIA is expected to reach 39°C on both days.

Meanwhile, in a separate weather forecast for April 20, the state weather bureau said Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
