Cotabato City enters danger heat index level at 42°C

MANILA, Philippines — Cotabato City is forecast to post a 42°Celsius heat index level on Monday, April 13, placing it under the danger category in the day’s heat outlook.

Based on the forecast by state weather bureau PAGASA, Cotabato City logged the highest projected temperature among the listed areas monitored for the day.

PAGASA classifies 42°C to 51°C as "danger" warning, indicating that heat stroke is probable with continued heat and sun exposure.

Other areas in the forecast remained below that threshold but still within the "extreme caution" range. Coron, Palawan and Zamboanga City were both forecast at 41C, while NAIA in Pasay City was at 40C. Science Garden in Quezon City, Laoag City, Legazpi City and Iloilo City were each forecast at 37C.

The Cotabato crosses into a higher risk bracket as much of the country continues to experience hot and humid conditions.

Residents, especially those spending long hours outdoors, may need to limit direct sun exposure, stay hydrated and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.

In April 2025, Virac, Catanduanes reached a heat index of 46°C, based on PAGASA data.
