4 charges: Articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte

Vice President Sara Duterte is facing charges of misusing confidential funds, bribery, unexplained wealth, and death threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

MANILA, Philippines (First published, May 1) — The House of Representatives voted to impeach Vice President Sara Duterte for a second time on Monday, May 11 and send the case to the Senate for trial.

It was a landslide, with 257 lawmakers deciding to impeach Duterte, when only 106 votes — a third of the overall chamber — were needed. In 2025, the House impeached the vice president with 240 signatures.

The new case moved forward against the backdrop of a deepening rift between the Duterte and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr's administration, with the House vote seen as both a constitutional act and a political marker.

With the House vote and pretrial discussions, the focus would now be on the Senate, where senators would sit as impeachment judges and where conviction could remove Duterte from office and bar her from politics.

The four articles of impeachment against Duterte, including charges of misusing confidential funds, bribery, unexplained wealth, and death threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. can be read below.
