Atong Ang may be in Vietnam, says Remulla
MANILA, Philippines — Authorities are verifying reports that fugitive tycoon Atong Ang may be in Vietnam, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said.
In an interview with DZBB on Tuesday, April 7, Remulla said the government is coordinating with Vietnamese officials to check immigration records and confirm whether Ang is in the country.
"Gumagawa kami ng diplomatic efforts para kausapin 'yung counterparts namin doon para tignan 'yung immigration record nila kung nandoon talaga," Remulla said.

Escape route. Remulla said Ang may have left the Philippines through a backdoor in Mindanao for Malaysia weeks before arrest warrants were issued against him.
Authorities are pursuing Ang and several others allegedly involved in the disappearance of cockfighting enthusiasts, or sabungeros.
Charges. Regional Trial Courts in Sta. Cruz, Laguna; Lipa, Batangas; and San Pablo City, Laguna have issued arrest warrants against Ang.
The charges include multiple counts of kidnapping with homicide, as well as kidnapping and serious illegal detention.
Ang has denied the allegations.
Bounty, prior reports. The government has placed a P20 million bounty on Ang as of February 12.
Earlier reports suggested he had fled to Cambodia, but Cambodian authorities said he is not in their country
