OIC for civil defense named

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang yesterday announced the designation of Assistant Secretary Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV as officer-in-charge of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), the agency that supervises, monitors and evaluates the implementation of disaster management programs.
Alejandro succeeded former OCD administrator Ariel Nepomuceno, who was appointed commissioner of the Bureau of Customs.
“Yes, there is a designated OIC (officer-in-charge), Assistant Secretary Rafaelito Alejandro IV. He is now the OIC of the Office of Civil Defense,” Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said at a press briefing.
Alejandro worked as the OCD deputy administrator for administration. He also served as the head of the regional civil defense office in Bicol.
