OVP denies plans to revive PCGG

MANILA, Philippines — The Office of the Vice President (OVP) yesterday denied reports that Vice President Sara Duterte plans to revive the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) and go after the wealth of President Marcos if she wins the presidency in 2028.
“Vice President Duterte has never made such a statement, nor has she expressed any intent or issued any policy direction remotely,” the OVP said in a statement.
The PCGG was created by former president Corazon Aquino to recover the Marcos’ ill-gotten wealth, including that of his immediate family, relatives, subordinates and close associates, whether located in the Philippines or abroad.
Based on the website of the PCGG, its cash recoveries in 2024 alone reached P2.2 billion, contributing to the total P182-billion cash recovered since 1986, exceeding targets and funding of critical government programs.
