MANILA, Philippines — Police will be deployed to areas where Ramadan-related activities will be held, according to the Philippine National Police.

PNP public information officer Col. Jean Fajardo did not give a ballpark figure on the number of police officers to be deployed.

The 232,000-strong PNP is one with Muslims in observing Ramadan, a month when Muslims observe fasting from dawn till dusk and abstain from worldly pleasures, she said at a news briefing on Monday.

The PNP has also set Ramadan-related activities for Muslims in the police force, she added.
