MANILA, Philippines — Another long weekend is coming up.

President Marcos has declared April 21, a Friday, a regular holiday nationwide in observance of Eid’l Fitr, the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

Proclamation 201, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin yesterday, said it is necessary to declare April 21 a regular holiday throughout the Philippines “in order to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness.”

It also allows all Filipinos to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in its observance and celebration, the proclamation read. The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos recommended the declaration of the holiday.
