Lagdameo named envoy to UN; Cua heads PCSO

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos has designated Antonio Manuel Lagdameo as permanent representative of the Philippines to the United Nations, and appointed former Quirino province representative Junie Cua as chairman of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

They were among the new officials who took their oath before the President on Tuesday at Malacañang.

Prior to his latest appointment, Lagdameo served as the country’s ambassador to the United Kingdom.

Lagdameo is the father of former Davao del Norte representative and now Special Assistant to the President Anton Lagdameo.

Marcos, meanwhile, reappointed former Pampanga governor Mark Lapid as chief operating officer of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, a government-owned and controlled corporation attached to the Department of Tourism. Lapid is the son of Sen. Lito Lapid.

The President also retained Jose Manuel Romualdez as Philippine ambassador to the United States.

The other appointees were actor Tirso Cruz III, chairman and chief executive, Film Development Council; Romeo Lumagui Jr., deputy commissioner for operations, Bureau of Internal Revenue; Juan Revilla, board member, Movie and Television Review and Classification Board; Abdulghani Salapuddin, administrator and chairman, Southern Philippines Development Authority; Jose Arnulfo Veloso, president and general manager, Government Service Insurance System and Col. Ramon Zagala, Presidential Security Group Commander and Senior Military Assistant.
