MANILA, Philippines — Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio yesterday thanked Dabawenyos for the 93 percent job approval rating she got in a nationwide survey.

In a statement, Duterte-Carpio cited the collective efforts of her constituents in making Davao a competitive and livable city as she encouraged them to continue upholding the city’s tagline “Life is Here.”

“The honor I share with all of you who work hard to serve the Dabawenyos. We all genuinely love our city and this is our core strength. So we must continue to make it livable,” Duterte-Carpio said.

Based on an independent and non-commissioned survey conducted by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMDinc), Duterte-Carpio topped the list of officials outside the National Capital Region (NCR) insofar as achievement rating is concerned.

In the NCR, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte ranks No. 1 as mayor with 87 percent achievement rating while Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia obtained 77 percent, positioning her ahead of other regional governors.

Outside NCR, Duterte-Carpio clinched the first spot with 93 percent approval rating, higher compared to then mayor and now President Duterte’s 86 percent back in 2010.

She was followed by Calamba Ciy Mayor Justin Marc Chipeco with 82 percent; Calapan City Mayor Arnan Panaligan with 77 percent; Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno, 74 percent, and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong rounding out the top five with 71 percent.

In a statement, RPMDinc. official Dr. Paul Martinez said he hoped the result would give public servants a good insight into the impression of their constituents on their performance as local officials.

Martinez said the survey was conducted from July 3 to 10 with 3,500 respondents in NCR while the poll was taken from June 10 to 25 with 5,000 respondents across all regions.
