International flights suspended until May 8
MANILA, Philippines — The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases has approved the suspension of international flights to and from the Philippines until May 8.?
The suspension was discussed and approved during the IATF meeting last Monday, presidential spokesman Harry Roque said yesterday.
Official flights, emergency flights, cargo ambulance, medical supply, weather mitigation, maintenance flights and international flights for stranded foreign nationals are exempted from the suspension.
Exempted from the restriction are emergencies while en route, cargo flights, air ambulance and medical supplies flights, weather mitigation and maintenance flights. Also allowed to continue are sweeper flights for foreign nationals who will be repatriated to their respective countries.
International flights wishing to land and depart must request exemption with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines at least 36 hours before the scheduled departure from their place of origin.
