Fund drive nears P7 Million

MANILA, Philippines — Donations continued to pour in for Philstar Operation Damayan’s ongoing fund drive for evacuee-families in Batangas.

Hazel Javier and Luisa Llave, representatives of the Department of Tourism, sent in remittances totaling P232,080 from travel tour operators in Taiwan on Thursday.

Also through the efforts of DOT’s Daphne and Angel Tseng, the tour operators banded together to help out families displaced by the Taal Volcano eruption, and opted to course their assistance through STAR’s Operation Damayan.

Received were donations from the following: Candy Yang of Golden Memory Tour, P33,800; Beauty D, P8,450; Beauty Hsieh, P5,070; Sting Lu of Sting Light & Sound System Co., P5,070; Tracy Chou of Enjoy Islands Travel, P16,900; Tim Liao of Dewet Int’l Education Consultants Ltd., P50,700; Chin-Hsiang Lee of Spring Tide Diving Club, P5,070; Hung-Yi Hsu of Dive Dragon, P5,070; Mu-Tsun Su of ADS Products Corp., P5,070; Tom Chu of Fun Diver Tour, P16,900; Chi-Sheng Yang of Camp David Diving, P5,070; Chin-Hsing Wu of Cruiser Diving, P5,070; Ming-Che Chen of Nitrox Center Diving, P5,070; Li-Yu Chia of Taiwan Hi-Tech Scuba Diving, P5,070; Unicorn Yang of Formosa Diving, P16,900; Chin-Chang Kuo of Giant Sun Bathing Facilities Co. Ltd., P5,070; and Cheng-Min Chen of Ping Tung County Pin-Wey-Hsuan, P5,070.

The Damayan fund drive for Taal now totals P6.97 million.

Aside from anonymous donations in amounts of P3,000, P500, 25 pieces of N95 masks, and an Android tablet, Damayan accepted various items from donor Catherine Pelonia and assorted shirts from Mag-1 Synthetic Oil USA that were distributed during relief operations on Thursday.

The Damayan team is slated to conduct follow-up relief operations in Batangas in the coming week.
