No cyclone in 1st week of 2020 — Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines — No tropical cyclone is expected to enter the Philippines in the first week of 2020, the state weather bureau said yesterday.
The northeast monsoon is forecast to bring cooler weather in parts of Luzon during the weekend, Ariel Rojas, weather specialist at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said.
Rojas said the tail end of a cold front, the boundary between cold and dry air, would bring rains over the eastern section of the country.
Generally fair weather is expected over Metro Manila this New Year with chances of isolated rain due to thunderstorm.
Tomorrow, the northeast monsoon will bring cooler temperatures over the metropolis, ranging from 23 to 29 degrees Celsius.
In Baguio City, the temperature was forecast to dip to 12 degrees Celsius on Friday.
The northeast monsoon will bring rough seas in the seaboards of Batanes, Babuyan, Calayan, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur, Rojas said.
