MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said workers who opt to work today will receive double pay, reminding employers to give proper holiday compensation.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said National Heroes Day is a regular holiday, which entitles workers to double their daily pay in the first eight hours of work.
Malacañang earlier declared Aug. 26 as a holiday in observance of National Heroes Day.
DOLE advised employers to comply with the formula in the computation of wages for regular holidays.
