MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court Public Information Office has announced that courts nationwide would only be open for half a day on Holy Wednesday, March 28.
The half-day suspension, according to the SC PIO, was to allow workers of the judiciary to travel to provinces to observe the Lenten break on Holy Thursday and Good Friday.

Acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio ordered the half-day suspension of work for courts operating across the country.
Meanwhile, courts located in cities and municipalities where the local government has ordered work cancellations for a full day on Wednesday would observe a full-day suspension as courthouses are housed in government-owned or controlled buildings.
Court work on Thursday and Friday are suspended following Proclamation No. 269 of 2017 that declared both days as regular holidays.
