MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has proclaimed the Communist Party of the Philippines and its armed wing, the New People’s Army, as terrorist groups.
Presidential spokesman Harry Roque made the announcement Tuesday afternoon.

Roque said Duterte’s order would enable law enforcers to run after individuals who provide financial support to CPP-NPA.
Roque clarified that the terrorist tag is not applied to the National Democratic Front.
Last week, Duterte terminated the peace negotiations with the communists.
