Woman dies hours after collapsing inside MRT-3 train

The cause of death of the 26-year-old MRT-3 passenger remains unknown as her family refused an autopsy. File 

MANILA, Philippines — A 26-year-old MRT-3 passenger died over two hours after collapsing inside a southbound train headed to Ortigas Station.

An incident report released by the MRT-3 said that the passenger, Marielle Ann Mar, collapsed at 9:48 a.m. and was carried out of the train by station guards a minute later.

First aid was immediately administered until the arrival of a Lifeline Ambulance which took the passenger to Victor R. Potenciano Medical Center in Mandaluyong City.

Hospital staff tried to revive her but she was pronounced dead at 12:05 p.m.

The cause of her death, however, remains unknown as her family refused an autopsy.

The Department of Transportation and the MRT-3 management extended their condolences to the passenger's family.

They added that they have extended all necessary assistance, including payment of medical and funeral expenses.
