Diesel, kerosene prices up today

Danessa Rivera - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Today is a day of love, but motorists won’t be loving the oil companies as pump prices go up again.

It is the third straight week that diesel prices were increased and the second consecutive week for kerosene.

Oil companies did not implement any price change on gasoline products.

In a text advisory, SeaOil Philippines raised prices for diesel by P0.20 per liter and P0.10 for kerosene starting 6 a.m.

Flying V said it implemented the same adjustments across fuel products starting 12:01 a.m. today.

Eastern Petroleum, Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, PTT Philippines, Total Philippines and UniOil Petroleum Philippines said diesel prices were increased by P0.20 per liter effective 6 a.m.

Petron and Pilipinas Shell Petroleum have yet to make an announcement as of press time but are expected to implement similar price adjustments.

Meanwhile, a 15-day price freeze on fuel products is enforced in Surigao province, which is still under a state of calamity following last Friday’s magnitude 6.7 earthquake.

The order is based on Republic Act 10623, which imposes a price freeze on certain LPG and kerosene products being sold in areas affected by a calamity.

“In order to effectively ensure the supply of petroleum products, oil companies are obliged to update the DOE of the operational status of their depots and gasoline stations within the areas to stabilize the supply and reduce chances of individuals who are taking advantage of the oil situation,” said Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi.
