MANILA, Philippines — Former Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. on Wednesday requested anti-graft court Sandiganbayan to grant him furlough to visit his father for the second time this month.
The senator's father, former Sen. Ramon Revilla Sr., 89, was admitted to St. Luke's Medical Center - Global in Taguig City last December 22 due to kidney inflammation.
The elder Revilla will be undergoing a tube insertion procedure due to his inability to eat on his own. He will be confined in the hospital until January 3, 2017.
"Senator Revilla feels it is his obligation to come to the aid of his father, who is very close to him, even by his mere presence, and cannot disregard a son's natural urge and desire to visit and be with his ailing and weak father, and spend a few moments together, to provide former Senator Revilla, Sr. the needed assurance and support," the camp of Revilla Jr. said.
Revilla Jr. asked the court to allow him to visit his father as soon as possible, preferably on December 28 or 29, December 31 and January 1, 2017.
The senator is facing plunder charges over the alleged misuse of his pork barrel fund.
