Philippines condemns attack on Pakistan cop school

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines has condemned the suicide attack at a police training college in Quetta, Pakistan last Oct. 24.

No Filipinos were among the casualties, the Department of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

“The deplorable attack, which took the lives of 61 cadets and wounded more than 160 others, has no place in a civilized society,” the DFA said.

The DFA said the Philippine embassy in Islamabad continues to monitor the situation.

“We extend our most heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and sympathy to the injured,” the DFA said.

A team of gunmen killed at least 58 people using firearms and suicide bombs during a raid in a hostel housing hundreds of police cadets in the Pakistani city of Quetta.

Terrorists from a Pakistani Taliban-linked group burst into the sprawling academy, targeting sleeping quarters.
