MANILA, Philippines — Incoming President Rodrigo Duterte would be sworn into office by Supreme Court Associate Justice Bienvenido Reyes, his aide Christopher Go said Thursday.

Reyes and Duterte are members of San Beda College's Lex Talionis fraternity.

Duterte is expected to take his oath on June 30 at the Rizal Ceremonial Hall in Malacañang.

Reyes was born in Obando, Bulacan. He finished Bachelor of Laws at San Beda College in 1971. That same year, he passed the bar exams with a rating of 81.6 percent.

Reyes began his career in the judiciary in 1990 as presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court in Malabon City. In 2000, he was appointed as associate justice of the Court of Appeals.

Outgoing President Benigno Aquino III appointed Reyes as an associate justice of the high court in 2011.

Meanwhile, Vice President-elect Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo would be sworn into office by Ronaldo Coner, the barangay captain of Punta Tarawal, the poorest, smallest and farthest village in Camarines Sur.

Robredo's inauguration would be held somewhere in Metro Manila, separate from that of Duterte's.

Duterte's camp said it prefers holding a separate inauguration with the vice president-elect due to the limited venue space.

According to Boyet Dy, head of Robredo’s transition team, they respect Duterte’s request, adding that the incoming vice president would also hold a simple and modest ceremony. — Alexis Romero and Levi So
