KBL-PMM alliance to be launched for Marcos-Duterte in 2016

MANILA, Philippines - An alliance of the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL) and Partido ng Manggagawa at Magsasaka (PMM) will be launched tomorrow as the vehicle for the presidential and vice presidential tandem of Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte next year.

All systems are go for signing the KBL-PMM alliance at the Aloha Restaurant in Manila tomorrow, KBL president Vicente Millora and PMM president Jose Malvar Villegas told The STAR after their meeting in Quezon City yesterday.

“The KBL political machinery is intact from national, regional to municipal level,” Millora said. “We are submitting the list to Sen. Marcos to prove that the alliance is capable of mounting a nationwide campaign.”

Original KBL members nationwide have began calling to pledge their full support for the Marcos-Duterte tandem, Millora said.

Villegas said the KBL-PMM coalition will be a healing alliance to pursue reconciliation and unity for the nation to move on.

“We must first heal the wounds of the past before the country can move on,” he said.

PMM decided to join forces with the KBL to “heal” the political wounds that continue to hinder progress in the country, he added.

Although he was imprisoned during martial law, he had realized that President Ferdinand Marcos was a great visionary, and that his son and namesake can continue his unfinished program, Villegas said.

The late president was a victim of a continuing hate campaign for 30 years, “longer than the one against Hitler,” he added.

The alliance with the KBL is just a repeat of history when the PMM joined forces with the political party of President Fidel Ramos in 1992, Villegas said.

The PMM-Lakas Tao alliance spearheaded the presidential campaign that led to the election of Ramos as the 12th president of the Republic, he added.

Millora said the KBL has activated its political machinery at the barangay level to prepare for the 2016 polls.

The PMM has tapped its nationwide anti-crime arm, Citizens Crime Watch, to coordinate with the KBL   in the local level, Villegas said.

The KBL-PMM alliance will field candidates from the national to the local levels.
