MANILA, Philippines — Jeane Catherine Napoles, daughter of plunder suspect and alleged brains of the "pork barrel" scam Janet Napoles, personally appeared before the court to post bail for tax evasion.

The younger Napoles on Tuesday posted P50,000 bail after she was charged for owing P17.88 million in taxes from a case filed by the Department of Justice before the Court of Tax Appeals' First Division.

Jeane voluntarily appeared before the court after she has been acknowledged to be residing in the United States at the height of the scandal which implicated her family in the billion-peso malversation scheme of lawmakers' Priority Development Assistance Funds.

She is also scheduled to be arraigned on April 22.
