MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino gave assurance yesterday that the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines remain united despite intrigues apparently brought about by the Jan. 25 Mamasapano incident.

And with the Presidential Security Group, Aquino said he has “peace of mind.”

“Now, I can say that in the more than four years of being here, I never caught anyone sleeping in the noodle house or in the post. This is true: Because of PSG, I have peace of mind,” Aquino said during the 29th founding anniversary of the PSG held at Malacañang Park.

In a speech the President also praised the PSG for securing Pope Francis during his visit to the Philippines and other big security operations that they were able to carry out successfully.

He praised the men and women of the PSG as professionals and that in his daily encounters with them, he could see the strong bond between the officials and members of AFP and PNP comprising his security detail and other units of the PSG.

“Now that there are those trying to destroy the strong bond of our AFP and PNP, I only have one message to those sowing intrigues and negativism: Look at PSG. Look at the dedication of the soldiers and policemen who were contributing to achieve what we are hoping for as one nation,” Aquino said.

The President said in the last chapter of his administration, he was confident that he could fulfill his duties with the help of the PSG.

Aquino reiterated the many problems, big or small, he had to deal with everyday as well the severe criticism, especially the fiction created by the minds of those craving for attention.

Aquino said his courage in facing his challenges came from the fact that he was doing what was right and leaving the rest to God.
