MANILA, Philippines - The iconic Quezon Memorial Circle pylon lit up in a breathtaking fireworks display as a crowd of over 20,000 people welcomed 2015 with TV5 and Quezon City at the “Happy sa 2015: The Philippine New Year Countdown” held on New Year’s Eve.

The event was a whole day affair that featured an on-ground artista search, an LGBT parade, live band shows, street performances, games and prizes and a star-studded New Year concert capped by a two-part 3D mapping lights show and grand pyromusical display performed by the pyrolympics teams from Canada and the Philippines.

At the stroke of midnight, the Philippine contingent wowed everybody with a magnificent pyromusical presentation, highlighted by two “TV5 2015” branded drones that flew around the colorful sky before bursting into awe-inspiring flames that complemented the ongoing fireworks display.

The crowd at the Quezon Memorial Circle as well as viewers of the live Philippine New Year Countdown telecast on TV5 were given a full night of visual and musical treats during the special concert, which was hosted by Ogie Alcasid, Alice Dixson and Derek Ramsay, with live performances by Wendell Ramos, Empoy, Tuesday Vargas, Alwyn Uytingco, Martin Escudero, Katrina “Suklay Diva” Velarde, Tom Taus, Akihiro Blanco, Chris Leonardo, Alberto Bruno, Marvelous Alejo, Chadleen, Talentadong Pinoy 2014 Ultimate Talentado Neil and other Hall of Famers, Philippine All Stars, Ritz Azul, Mark Neumann, Isabelle de Leon, Carl Guevarra, Gab Valenciano, Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Kuh Ledesma.

“Happy sa 2015: The Philippine New Year Countdown” was the first partnership between TV5 and the Quezon City government. TV5 president and CEO Emmanuel Lorenzana and Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista recently signed a memorandum of understanding for the staging of the biggest and grandest New Year countdown, which provided the perfect venue for both the QC government’s campaign to prevent firecracker-related accidents on New Year’s Eve and TV5’s commitment to spread the ‘happy’ vibe and let more people know why it is called the Happy Network.
