Alexis Romero - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Monsoon-induced rains are expected today in southern Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Bicol, Mimaropa and Calabarzon, as well as the Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.

“Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening,” PAGASA said yesterday.

Moderate to occasional strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over the western section of Luzon and the Visayas.

Coastal waters will be moderate to occasionally rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate, coming from the southwest, with slight to moderate seas.

Light to moderate with occasional heavy rains occurred in portions of Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Sibugay, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, General Santos City, South Cotabato, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Sur, Basilan, Maguindanao and Sulu.

A thunderstorm also affected Doña Remedios and San Miguel towns in Bulacan, portions of Laguna, parts of Nueva Ecija, Quezon, Rizal and Marikina.

“All are advised to take precautionary measures against heavy rains, strong winds, lightning and possible flash floods,” PAGASA said.
