First Philippine-made plane sold

MANILA, Philippines — A local aerospace components manufacturing firm has produced the first two Filipino-made aircrafts.

Dennis Chan, president of Famous Secret Precision Machining Inc. said the light sport aircrafts were built "completely by Filipinos" in Cavite.

"We produced two airplanes, [one] has already been flying in Florida. And the other one is this one this is now already sold to a customer in Batangas," Chan said in an interview aired over GMA's 24 Oras Thursday night.

Chan was referring to the RP-S 512, a two-seater light sport aircraft currently on exhibit at the Department of Science and Technology Science Nation in Pasay City.

The firm supplies precision machine components to international aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing and Airbus.

The exhibit runs from July 24 to July 28. - Camille Diola
