Bong: Am I evil to be thrown in jail?
MANILA, Philippines — A nightmare.
That's how embattled Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. describes his present situation as he is about to surrender at the Sandiganbayan for his charges in connection with the pork barrel scam.
Before he left his home in Cavite on Friday morning, Revilla maintained his innocence in the supposed diversion of his pork barrel funds to dummy non-government organizations of businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles.
In an interview with ABS-CBN's Umagang Kay Ganda earlier today, Revilla said he never thought that this day would come.
"Ni sa panaginip 'di ko akalaing darating ito eh. Parang bangungot na 'di ka magising," Revilla said.
"Ito yung sitwasyon na parang, masama ba akong tao para mapasok ako sa kulungan?" the senator asked.
Revilla also reiterated that he is ready to be put behind bars with his head held high.
"Haharapin ko ito nang taas-noo. Papasok ako sa kulungan taas-noo at lalabas ako dito nang taas-noo," Revilla said.
Bong prefers Camp Crame
Meanwhile, Revilla's lawyer said the senator wants to be detained in the headquarters of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame in Quezon City.
"Ang pagkaunawa namin, parang kinausap na ni Senator Bong Revilla 'yung head ng PNP," lawyer Joel Bodegon also told ABS-CBN's Umagang Kay Ganda.
Believing that the prosecution's evidence is weak, Bodegon also reiterated that they will file today a petition for bail in Revilla's non-bailable plunder case.
"Sa mga non-bailable offenses, kinakailangang mag-file ka ng petition for bail upang ma-examine agad at mabilisan ang hearing diyan," Bodegon said. - Louis Bacani
