PNP opens 'hotline' Twitter account

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police has joined Twitter.

The PNP through its Directorate for Police Community Relations launched its Twitter account with the handle @PNPHotline.

A report by state news wire Philippine News Agency said the Twitter account was launched to increase police presence on social media by providing real-time , pro-active engagement.

The account is also a way of the police to reach out to the public and to provide another venue to citizens to inform the PNP of their concerns and other peace and order issues.
