Louis Bacani - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang on Monday congratulated Filipino-American composer Robert Lopez for winning at the 86th Academy Awards.

"We’re very, very happy that Robert Lopez, a Fil-Am, won the Oscar award," Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said at a televised press briefing.

Lopez and his wife Kristen won the Best Original Song for their composition "Let It Go" from the animated film "Frozen."

It was the first Oscar victory for the couple.

With the latest achievement, Lopez and his wife are now among the very few people who have won an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and Tony awards, referred to as "EGOT."

Aside from bagging the Best Original Song award, "Frozen" was also declared as the Best Animated Feature Film.

"Gravity" had the most number of awards with seven, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Visual Effects.
