Dubai needs skilled Pinay workers

MANILA, Philippines - Over 4,000 jobs in Dubai are open for highly skilled female Filipino workers.

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) director general Joel Villanueva said there are 4,200 job orders from Placewell International Services.

Placewell is looking for female workers with certified specialization on electrical installation and maintenance, plumbing and refrigeration and air-conditioning.

The salary range for certified workers is between $600 to $800 per month. The hiring would be until 2016.

“Placewell believes that TESDA-certified female workers are highly qualified to work in maintenance facilities of Dubai government institutions like hospitals, universities and banks,” Villanueva said.

Villanueva called on TESDA’s national directorate and provincial directors to ensure that the agency’s training programs will “pave the road to employment.”

Recently, TESDA launched the Training, Re-Accelerating Access and Boosting A High-impact Opportunity (TRABAHO) program, which aims to generate more employment for Filipinos.

“TRABAHO is the most important agenda for TESDA this 2014 and beyond,” Villanueva said, adding that training, assessment and certification should be at the forefront of the agency’s services and should make a significant impact.

Currently, the agency has 246 training regulations, more than 20,000 registered programs, a network of around 4,500 training institutions and 170,000 registered users in the TESDA online program.
