Still no administrative sanctions vs Atimonan cops

Bebot Sison Jr., Cecille Suerte Felipe - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The 22 policemen involved in the killing of 13 men, including three police officers in plainclothes in an alleged shootout in Atimonan, Quezon exactly a year ago today have yet to face administrative charges.

Philippine National Police chief Director General Alan Purisima has instructed Director Alexander Roldan, Internal Affairs Service (IAS) chief, to determine the administrative cases against the 22 policemen.

He is disappointed with the pace of the investigation, he said.

PNP spokesman Senior Superintendent Wilben Mayor has assured the public that appropriate sanctions will be meted on the policemen who are locked up in Camp Crame’s Custodial Center.

Senior Superintendent Hansel Marantan, Calabarzon intelligence chief, said the alleged shootout leading to the killing of the 13 men was a legitimate police operation.

He was the only police officer wounded in the incident.
