(UPDATE) 4 people die in sea mishap off Albay

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - Four people died when a motor boat capsized off Albay yesterday afternoon, while 21 others were rescued, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said today.

Philippine Coast Guard spokesman Lieutenant Commander Armand Balilo said that the engine of the banca with 25 people on board malfunctioned while it was traveling from Napao village to Poblacion, both in Bacacay, a town in Albay.

When the passengers on the boat named John Aspe were frightened by the engine failure, a huge wave hit the unfortunate boat, causing it to capsize and sink, he said.

The boat skipper identified as Diego Crisol was one among the four people who died in the accident, Balilo said, adding that other passengers were immediately rescued.
