’Cracker drive goes to schools

Sheila Crisostomo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Health (DOH) is focusing its anti-firecracker campaign “Aksyon Paputok Injury Reduction (APIR): Iwas Paputok” on school children to minimize injuries this coming New Year’s Eve.

DOH Secretary Enrique Ona and Assistant Secretary Eric Tayag recently visited the Cecilio Apostol Elementary School and Espiritu Santos Elementary School in Tayuman, Manila to promote the program to stop children from using firecrackers in welcoming 2013.

Tayag had wowed the students, teachers and non-faculty personnel in the two schools when he danced to the tune of “Gangnam Style,” a song popularized by South Korean musician Psy.

The song was released last July 15 but it has gained global popularity, with its signature dance moves performed by many individuals, including political leaders and famous athletes.
