MANILA, Philippines - The Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC), in partnership with the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), launched a “cashless” payment system in its more than 2,000 food outlets nationwide.

JFC chairman and chief executive officer Tony Tan Caktiong and BPI president Aurelio Montinola led the launching of the “happyplus” card at the Jollibee branch at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City on Monday.

“As a way of recognizing and thanking our millions of customers who have supported JFC through the years, we have decided to reward their generosity and loyalty with the happyplus card, the first cashless payment rewards card in the country,” Tan said.

“We have managed to integrate easy and fast transaction for our customers ordering and paying for their favorite food in any participating JFC stores nationwide through the use of happyplus card,” he said.

The happyplus card is JFC’s customer loyalty program that rewards its members points every time they eat in participating Jollibee, Greenwich, Chowking, Red Ribbon, and soon in Mang Inasal, establishments.

The points accumulated can be used as payment for any item sold in any participating JFC stores.

For every P50 purchase, the card owner earns one point equal to P1. Customers will also be given corresponding raffle entries for their purchases. The card is available at all participating JFC stores for P100 each. Membership is good for three years.

The card has a minimum load amount of P100 and a maximum purse and reload limit of P10,000.

“This is another milestone for JFC as we have managed to consolidate easy and fast transaction for our customers ordering and paying for their favorite food in any participating JFC stores nationwide through the use of the happyplus card,” Tan-Caktiong said.

JFC operates the country’s largest quick service restaurant chains with system wide sales of P82.2 billion and net income of P3.2 billion in 2011.

BPI, on the other hand, is the leading bank institution in cashless payment innovation.

As of March 31, 2012, JFC has a total of 2,004 food outlets nationwide. – With Zinnia de la Peña
