22,760 graduates pass nursing licensure exam

MANILA, Philippines - A graduate of an unknown nursing school topped the Nursing Licensure Examination, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) reported yesterday.

With a grade of 86.40 percent, Jerald Pelayo of Mountain View College, a Bukidnon-based school in Northern Mindanao, led more than 22,000 nursing graduates who passed the licensure examination held last December.

PRC said only 22,760 examinees passed out of 67,095 nursing graduates who took the examination in Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Dagupan, Davao, Iloilo, La Union, Legazpi, Lucena, Nueva Ecija, Pagadian, Pampanga, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga.

Placing second in the examination was Linsid Angelou Tapongot of Xavier University with a score of 86 percent, while Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) graduate Joanne Santamari followed in third place, with a grade of 85.80 percent.

Saint Mary’s University’s Jhomae Castillo, Manila Adventists Medical Center graduate Melchor Dapo Jr., Xavier University’s Ralph Ryan de la Rosa and University of Perpetual Help-Laguna’s Princess Roschelle Limson shared fourth spot with a grade of 85.20 percent.

Fifth placers were Jobelle Calicdan of PLM; Jerico Carreon, Manuel Enverga University Foundation-Lucena; Vins Mary Estilloro, University of San Agustin; Reynaldo Flore, Southern Luzon State University (Lucban); Romienne Lily June Garcia, University of Iloilo; and Euanne Orellano, Remedios Romualdez Medical Foundation, who all scored 85 percent.
