Lakas-Kampi strongest coalition in 2010
DAVAO CITY – A very strong and formidable political party has been formed with the merger of the ruling Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats and the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi), President Arroyo said yesterday.
The President was here yesterday to administer the signing of the agreement on the merger of the regional chapters of the Lakas-CMD and Kampi parties in simple ceremonies held at the Apo View Hotel.
Davao del Norte Gov. Rodolfo del Rosario and Davao Oriental Gov. Corazon Malanyaon, chairmen of the Lakas-CMD and Kampi chapters in Southern Mindanao, signed the documents for the merger.
The local chapters of Lakas-CMD and Kampi in Panay are also scheduled to merge before the end of the month.
Mrs. Arroyo said that with Lakas-CMD and Kampi dominating the House of Representatives and the local government, the two parties are assured of a winning formula in the 2010 elections.
“I have no doubt that our candidates in the national elections will win,” she said.
The President pointed out that the victory of the Lakas-Kampi candidates would mean the continuity of her administration’s programs.
“We will continue to work hard to fulfill our Philippine Reform Agenda until the day I turn over the national leadership to my successor, who I am sure will be whoever Lakas-Kampi will support,” Mrs. Arroyo added. – Edith Regalado
