Bong Go visits fire-hit Davao communities
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go visited fire-affected residents in Davao City, bringing assistance to communities recovering from separate fire incidents in Barangays Ilang and 19-B on Saturday.
The weekend visits are part of Go’s efforts to help disaster-hit families recover through immediate aid, access to healthcare, safe evacuation facilities and improved fire protection measures.
Go distributed assistance to 152 families affected by the June 23 fire in Ilang.
In the afternoon, he gave assistance to 110 families hit by a blaze in Barangay 19-B on June 7.
Beneficiaries received financial assistance, snacks, grocery packs, water containers, shirts, vitamins as well as basketballs and volleyballs. Some people were given shoes, watch, bicycle and mobile phone.
Recognizing that fire incidents often create immediate risks to health, shelter and livelihood, Go urged residents to prioritize their well-being and to seek medical attention whenever necessary.
“I will serve you to be the best of my ability. My only vice is serving you because I believe that service to people is service to God,” said Go, vice chair of the Senate committee on health and demography.
